"Finding the right person to fill a role gives me an enormous sense of fulfilment"

What areas/roles you recruit?

Specialist Mental Health Nursing and ISG

What’s your favourite part about your mahi (job)?

The challenge. Recruitment for me is like match-making. Finding the right person to fill a role gives me an enormous sense of fulfilment; there is enough variety in the role to keep my very busy, ADHD brain engaged; I get to work with some of the coolest people I have ever worked with; and I feel like I’m making a difference.

Who inspires you and why?

Strong and powerful women! I am surrounded by talented, inspirational and incredibly intelligent women – both professionally and personally – and I wouldn’t have it any other way honestly.

What’s a typical Sunday for you?

Sundays are for being lazy, meal prep, walks with my cute husband and border collie somewhere in nature, or café hoping with friends

Your favourite food and music?

Favourite food: Carbs, cheese and wine – the three main food groups, right?
Favourite music: My go to is Rock, mostly the good 90’s classics like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Metallica. And I do like to harken back to my punk rock days too with Blink 182, and Sum 41. But my taste in music is so broad I’ll listed to just about anything. I draw the line at country and western though.

What advice do you have for someone applying for a job at the CDHB?

Keep your profile updated and ensure that you are customising your cover letter per application. Otherwise, just do it. If you’re not successful this time you may be next time round.
